Archival description
A caribou shot by Kalout, Eskimo guide. Seepage 9 of the Diary for in-depth description of these slides. Meat to be used for Eskimo consumption and scraps to feed the dogs. Vic and I did have some caribou steak that evening. Most of the carcass will be cached, naturally frozen and picked up later in the year by our guide or other Eskimo families.
Kolout preparing seal meat for the dogs. Note the eyes of 12 hungry dogs and a whistle by Kolout and food gone in 30 seconds.
