The items described here consist of patterns for a woman's outer Amauti drawn by M. Katsuak of Tasiujarmiut. Directions for sewing are included on most of the large pieces, including, in some cases, cutting and finishing lines for particular individuals. Some of the pattern pieces have bits of fur sticking to them. The folder consists of sixteen pattern pieces, five sheets with layout instructions, one envelope with seventeen miniature pattern pieces, and the original folder label.
M. Katsaak
The collection consists of over 200 clothing patterns in a variety of styles created by Inuit artisans to depict differences in clothing styles and construction in various regions of the north. The collection also includes photographs depicting skin preparation and pictorial instructions for measuring and pattern layouts. There is also one artifact.
